About the Artist
For as long as she can remember, Marcy Misata has been a painter. Her artistic journey began with a strong connection to form, an acute awareness of the beauty and simplicity of line. Ever since that moment, she’s pursued the pure joy of creating.
Diverse life experiences have always influenced her medium. An MFA graduate of the Pratt Institute of New York, she’s taught art, dabbled in bronze sculpture and operated her own SoHo gallery, the largest in downtown Salida, Colorado. The gallery quickly became the center of the artist-centric town, and for 14 years, MarcyArt was a symbol that represented the area’s free-thinking spirit.
Her artwork has hung in galleries worldwide, but she prefers to display her work herself.
Now she’s brought her signature craft to Jensen Beach. Marcy arrived in Florida just in time to good-naturedly endure three hurricanes. After the storms, she began to fill her gallery with painted tiles, artistic glass blocks, prints, portraits, monotypes and more.
Today, visitors enjoy the eclectic mixture that has always been MarcyArt, pieces awash in vibrant color.
“I paint my life,” Marcy says. “My work is happy and whimsical, alive and purposeful.”
